Useful Apps

1. CamScanner: This app can be used to scan documents and notes. It is able to process photos into flattened and scanned documents. It automatically corrects any creases and folds on the document, centres the photo, and eliminates any shadows. This app is very useful for school notes, worksheets, as well as forms.

2. Quark/Wolfram Alpha: These apps act as quick and exact search engines to help students find specific information. Quark is specializes in its speed, accuracy, and simplicity. Wolfram Alpha is especially tailored to complicated math equations. Google does not allow for easy input of math equations or symbols while Wolfram Alpha provides a math symbols keyboard specifically for math questions. This will become especially useful if the student goes into calculus courses.

3. Word Reference: For students who are taking language classes, Word Reference is a great app that acts as a digital dictionary. Not only is it more accurate than using direct Google Translate, it also provides detailed definitions and examples that put different meanings of the same word into context. It is also extremely useful for French and Spanish as it acts as a bescherelle to conjugate verbs into various tenses.

4. Google Drive/Docs/Slides/Spreadsheet: Google drive will often be used in school for homework and assignments. It is very useful to have the series of Google apps for editing assignments in school, especially in case of emergencies. It can also be used to share documents with classmates for group projects.

5. Quizlet: Quizlet can be used to make flashcards and study for quizzes. Students can also search for pre-made flashcards by inputting keywords of the topic they are reviewing. This is more time efficient than the traditional way of making flashcards and allows more time for the student to review.
